    Happy New Year!

Greetings everyone! Yes - we are still here, but as you can imagine 2 kids at home keeps me pretty busy.  We are having so much fun... We go to the park, go to friends houses, go for walks... all kinds of stuff.  It's amazing how fast the days go!

Luke is doing MUCH better. He is fully using his arm and even starting to walk... He had lost a little bit of weight while he was sick but has put all of that back on, and some more :). He is back in full swing, and giving me a run for my money, he gets into EVERYTHING... I don't remember Maggie getting into as much as he does. He already opens all the cabinets and takes my dishes out.. Baby proofing time!!

Maggie loves being at home too. She is talking my ear off and has picked up a new "love": CARTOONS... that girl could sit for hours and watch them!

One of my girlfriends, Teresa and her little girl Mackenna are coming in town this week... We have all kinds of stuff planned for the kids to do... I'm super excited.

We are also getting ready for Luke's 1st birthday party! It's this weekend... anyone is welcome, it should be fun seeing him destroy a cake (like he does everything else, lol)

Anyway - hope everyone is having a great new year, I will try and keep this thing posted better :)

    Merry Christmas

    Merry Christmas everyone!

We had a WONDERFUL weekend... My parents, brother, Grandma & Aunt came on Sunday for our Christmas dinner/celebration.  The kids had a blast eating and getting presents.  Yesterday we had some friends over for appetizers and to enjoy Christmas eve.  This morning Santa came to visit Maggie and Luke... it was really cute, she came out of her room and I said, Maggie - look downstairs, did Santa come? She said.. Yah! He brought me presents!! So she ran down to our bedroom and said, DAD, COME LOOK SANTA CAME! She was so excited.  Her and Luke had fun opening their gifts, but I think Luke may have had just as much fun playing with the paper/packages :)

Nick got me a Gift Card to Coldwater Creek Spa... I am SOO excited to schedule a facial!!!

Check out the new pictures for events of the weekend...

    Happenings

Hey Everyone! Well we've been at home for about a week now and LOVE it.  Luke is slowly but surely getting better each day.  He's still not using his arm too much, but he's not any worse.  We will meet with the Ortho DR after the first of the year to make sure everything is still good, but I think by that time he will be using his arm.  The kids are having a blast being at home.  We have gone to play group this week, gone to the park everyday and even went and painted.

We are getting ready for Santa this weekend... We are going to have my parents, Grandma and Aunt over on Sunday and we are going to do our Christmas dinner.  My grandma's birthday is on Christmas so Maggie picked out a strawberry cake to make for her so we can celebrate her birthday this weekend.  (I hope my grandma likes Strawberry, lol)

That's about it going on around here - I'll try and post some new pictures soon :)

Keep Nick's mom in your prayers... she's about 1/2 way done with her treatment and will probably have surgery at the end of January. The treatment is catching up with her a little bit and she's not feeling too good, but she's one tough cookie and will do awesome through the rest :)

    WE ARE HOME!!!

Hey Everyone! We got to come home today.  Luke has been without fever for about 2 days now!! He still isn't using his arm much, but we have already seen improvement since he's been home, his attitude seems much better and he's already eating better.  He wasn't eating at the hospital and tonight he ate corn, rice and some meatballs and drank some bottles for my mom. We are so happy we are all at home again, my mom came up to help us get back in the swing of things, it’s really nice having family close to come and help out J.

I haven’t written too much about Maggie lately, but she is doing really good… Her vocabulary has taken off – she will just sit and talk to us, it’s super cute.  She is also ATTACHED to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the Doddlebops! She could sit and watch those for hours.

    We’ll keep you posted

    The latest...

Morning! We are still in the hospital, but seem to be doing better. Luke's arm looks really good although he's still not really using it. I think once he gets home and starts playing he will begin using it again. His fevers are almost totally gone, so they are just watching for those to go away and for him to start eating better and the we can go home. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support through this, we are really grateful for such wonderful friends and family.

    Another Update...

Good Morning Everyone - Nick let me go home last night, so I got a really good night sleep :).  Luke's arm seems to be doing better this morning which is a great sign.  We distracted him and moved it almost over his head. The DRs are going to do some physical therapy to help him get it moving again. They also found out this morning he has RSV which is an upper respiratory infection which is probably the root cause of the high fevers...  They can't do anything to treat this but they can help control the fever with Tynenol/Motrin and breathing treatments.  The RSV is a separate issue from his arm, which was kindof throwing us all for a loop because we thought the fever was still from his shoulder.  They think he probably picked this up from the hospital sometime... ick! It's good that they have found something that is causing his fevers so now it doesn't feel like it's such a shot in the dark with treatment and what is going on with him.  They want him to be totally fever free and moving his arm quite a bit before he can go home, hopefully only a day or so more, but it maybe through the weekend.

    Luke Status

Good Evening Everyone! Not too much to report. Luke is still spiking some fever and the DR's are trying to figure out what is going on.  They are running a couple different tests and we should hear something tomorrow around lunch.  We'll keep you posted :)

    Luke #3

We are trying to get Lukes fever under control, it keeps spiking kindof high. The DRS are looking into other possible reasons for his fever. he has a little bit of a cough, so are just making sure he doesnt have a viral infection or anything. They also said it looks like the culture is growing something, so hopefully they can pinpoint what bacteria was in there and make sure they have the right antibiotic treating it. We pray that the doctors will find the root cause of his fevers. :|

    Update #2

Greetings - Luke is out of surgery and recovering. They went in and drained a little fluid off his shoulder and down his bicep.  They are going to send that to the lab to see if they can determine what type of bacteria is in there. They also put in a little drain where they did the surgery so if he has any more fluid in there it can drain over the next couple days.  They said they will continue to monitor him with IV antibiotics for the next couple days and make sure his labs are going down and then we can go home :). Thanks for the prayers and support!

    Update on Luke

    Good Morning everyone!

A quick update... Luke had his MRI yesterday and it wasn't a lot worse/better than it was last week.  So yesterday afternoon they drew some labs to compare them to last weeks and they were slightly elevated.  So we talked with the Ortho Doctor last night and he wanted to watch Luke throughout the night for fevers and how is was feeling and reacting to the antibiotics and then make a determination this morning whether or not he would need surgery.  But, last night after he left, Luke started spiking a fever and was really fussy.  We gave him some motrin/tyenol and it helped his fever come down.  So... we saw the Ortho guy this morning and he said he wanted to go ahead and do surgery based on Luke's history so far: Still can't use his arm, continued fever, his MRI, and the incision spot is a little feverish. And after that keep him on IV antibiotics for a couple days. So we have surgery scheduled for around 10 (it will probably be closer to 12, those things never happen on time). Keep him in your prayers, we hope this is his last sugery EVER!!!

Hey everyone, we are back at the hospital with Luke, he got labs drawn yesterday and they were more elevated than when he left the hospital last week... so... he just went in for an MRI, and should be back in an hour or so. keep our family in you prayers... ill try and keep everyone updated.

    Home again Home again...

Hey everyone! We got to come on on Wednesday with Luke and I think he is slowly getting better. They said it may be 8-10 days before he really starts feeling better. He's still not really using his arm and cries if you try and move it and running a little bit of fever... but we are watching him and we see his ortho doctor on Tuesday - I think I will feel better after he sees him.  My mom brought Maggie back home yesterday and they were so excited to see each other.  :)

Also - I *quit* my job! I have really been thinking about it A LOTTTT!! lately and probably for the last year have really been considering it. I really want to be around the kids more and working 30 miles away doesn't really help that cause.  So - I went in for a little bit on Friday to talk to my boss (who is AWESOME!) and he said that since I have been out with Luke I won't be getting paid for that, ( I only had 20 hours of vacation) and... next week while I'm out I won't be getting paid either.  I have been talking to him lately about leaving how I really wanted to spend more time with my family and he was really happy for me... so I'm going to wait until Luke gets better to  see the timeline of me leaving... but it will be before the end of the year.  This has been a really hard decision for me for numerous reasons, but I want to enjoy my kids while they are little and be able to support Nick more with his new job! Smile

    Catching up

Hey Everyone! I guess we have lots of catching up to do.  We went to Ohio last week for Thanksgiving and it was a blast.  Maggie had such an adventure on the way there.  She had really been looking forward to going on an airplane, so she couldn't wait.  She got her own seat by the window.  She was such a "princess".  Once we got to the airport we went on the moving walkways and she thought that was just about the funniest thing she had ever done.  She wanted to turn around and keep going on it. She wanted to "do it by herself" so we let her get off by herself and then on the next one she wanted to get on by herself, I don't think it went as well as she had in her mind, lol.  She fell right on her bottom when she got on there, but she got right back up and kept going.  She also got to go on a Bus Ride, she thought that was cool because we have been watching DoddleBops on TV and they go on a bus ride.  So - needless to say it was quite an adventure.

Once in Ohio we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at Nick's brothers house and then a 50th Wedding anniversary party for Nick's parents.  Nick's sister organized the shindig and it was absolutely wonderful.  She had the house decorated to a T and the food was great.  I saw Nick's parents smiling and laughing all night. I think it was the perfect event for them and allowed them to enjoy the company of their family and friends.

Anyway- in other news, our little Lukey man is sick.  He woke up from his nap on Wednesday and was a little fussy and was avoiding his right arm.  I thought he just slept on it wrong and that it would get better. But the next morning he had some fever so Nick's sister Beth, (that's in med school) went to the ER with me.  They did some XRAYS and a little blood work but sent us home and told us to give him Motrin every 6-8 hours and it should get better. I called my Pediatrician in TX and she said there was a little virus going around that makes your joints feel like they have arthritis in them but it goes away pretty quickly and if it wasn't better before Saturday, take him back in. We waited until Sunday afternoon and he still wasn't using his right arm.  He could use his arm from the elbow down but couldn't raise his arm.  He had even figured out a way to crawl around a little bit.  I talked to my cousin Teddy and told him he was still running fever and avoiding his arm and it said it would probably be best to take him in, so Sunday night i brought him to Children's hospital in Dallas.  They ran some test, did XRAYS, etc and were leaning towards it being an infection in his joint and so the needed to keep him.  Yesterday they did an ultrasound to see if their was fluid around the joint to see what the next steps were.  They saw a little in there but couldn't say for sure what was going on, so they scheduled an MRI for yesterday afternoon.  The Ortho doctor was really good and through so he saw the MRI right away and called us and said he needed to take LUke to the OR and pull some fluid off to see what the fluid looked like and maybe wash the joint.  So - long story short they went in and saw the fluid and it was greenish so they went and washed the joint.  He has a little incision on his right shoulder but that's about it.  He is doing better today.  A little out of it and sore, but tomorrow he should be able to use that arm better.  They will run more test Thursday morning to see if his infection levels are lower and see if he is using his arm better and then he may get to go home. :) Keep us in your prayers...

    Hey

    Hello Everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  Things are going good here. Nick absolutly LOVES his new job! He spent the beginning part of the week in Washington DC meeting the team and talking about goals and plans for the next couple years.  He is really excited about the opportunites he has with Microsoft and can't wait to dive into them all.

We are also on baby watch these days... Our sister-in-law Gilliane is due this Friday and my cousins Teddy and Tami are also due Friday. Neither one know what they are having and it's the 3rd for each. I'm so excited for them :) :).

We are headed to Ohio next week for Thanksgiving.  Nick's parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary so we are going to have a nice dinner and celebration for them.  The kids are excited to see all of their cousins and "go on an airplane".  Airplane

Other than that things are just trucking along.  We are getting ready for the Holiday season and ready for it to cool down and actually feel like the Holidays.
    November 05

    Hello

Hey! I added new pictures.  Some are from Halloween, some from my Grandma's and then some from around the house.

Things have been pretty busy around here lately.  Nick started today with Microsoft!! YAH!! I'm so excited for him, I know this is a job he has been wanting for a long time.  I am studying for a Quality Certification and the exam is Dec 1.

Just so everyone knows... Nick's mom just was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer.  She will find out more this week about her treatment options.  They are going to try and do Chemo and Radiation before sugery and hopefully that can reduce the size of the tumor so she may not have have surgery.  That would be a God send.  I know she is extremly nervous so keep our family in your prayers.

    Enjoy!

    Happy Halloween

Good Morning! Here are a couple of pictures Nick sent me this morning.

We (Nick & Maggie) carved a pumpkin last night.  Maggie was a big help in cleaning the seeds out. The kids dressed up for school today, Maggie was a ladybug and Luke is a Lion.  Nick is going to see their halloween parade at 9:30, I can't wait to see the pictures :)

    Happenings

Good Morning All! I posted some new pictures of the kids from over the weekend. We went on a "Monster Mile" in our neighborhood and Christie & Adrian brought Della.  Maggie had a really good time saying "trick 'r treat".  By the end of the night she was going up to other kids, parents or anyone saying it- trying to get candy.  Ha! I guess they learn early.

We went to my Grandma and Aunt's house this weekend.  It's nice to have family close so we can go and spend the afternoon there.  I'll post some pictures from there later.

Nick is off work this week! Yah! He starts Monday with MSFT. We can't wait!! :) Enjoy!

    Happenings

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I guess we've been super busy!! Things are going really good here. Nick has accepted an offer with Microsoft. So, he is wrapping things up at Stryker and will start in early Nov with Microsoft.

The kids are good - I think Luke is getting his top 4 teeth in so he's a little cranky.  And we took the kids to the pumpkin patch this weekend.  They LOVED it.  Maggie got to pick out a pumpkin and then we painted it when we got home.  "Nana" came up to visit this weekend and babysat for us on Saturday night.  We went out with Nick's brother and sister in law.  It was nice to have a night out :) (Thanks Mom!! Open-mouthed)

Anyway - I'll try and keep up to date more and post some more pictures.

    Busy Week

Hey Everyone!  This week is a super busy week for me at work.  There is an internal audit going on, a team is here from corporate to do some training, and we have 2 big meetings on Wednesday! I added new pictures from last night... Nick shaved Luke's head... it's super cute.

Maggie is getting more used to "tee-teeing" on the potty.  They do it at school and she has told us a couple times at home that she has to go... The other night she did it and came yelling "MY DID IT!! MY DID IT!!" So maybe we'll go get her some big girl panties and tell her she can't tee tee on them. We'll see.

Nick's brother and sister and law are coming in town this weekend so we may have dinner with them :)

    Enjoy the pictures!
